When it comes to purchasing a car for a teenager or young adult, parents have a tough job to balance safety, value and style. This is one place where Honda really has the bases covered. Kelley Blue Book, the respected consumer auto research and valuation organization puts out an annual list of “10 Best Back-to-School Cars,” and this year Hondas took three of the 10 spots…actually, Hondas took three of the top five spots!
Honda Fit

First place went to the Honda Fit, which cited for its “unmated mix of affordability, efficiency, versatility, reliability and fun.” Not surprisingly, the Fit’s “cavernous” interior with the fold-down Magic Seat® is considered a real plus, as is the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) 5-Star Overall Safety Rating. The Fit gets great gas mileage and excellent consumer reviews.

Honda Civic

The Honda Civic takes third place. It’s’s “Overall Best Buy for 2016” in addition to its ranking on the “Best Back-to-School Cars” list. The Civic gets top marks for styling and fun, but also because it’s “among the likeliest to make it through grad school thanks to all the refinement, reliability and reputation…” Just like the Fit, the Honda Civic gets excellent gas mileage and consumer reviews, plus, it’s an Insurance Institute for Highway Safety Top Safety Pick+ – the highest rating available.
Honda HR-V

Pushing right behind is the new Honda HR-V in fourth place. The HR-V really ticks a lot of boxes: it’s an SUV but it’s also small and very fuel-efficient. likes the Honda HR-V because of its roomy and flexible cabin, but also because it’s very stylish. It gets 9.4 out of 10 in’s consumer ratings. Doesn’t hurt that it’s got an NHTSA 5-Star Overall Safety Rating, too!

All Hondas come with rearview cameras as standard equipment. Honda Sensing™, a suite of driver-assistive safety features is available on all three of these Hondas. They are covered by Honda’s three-year/36,000-mile Limited Warranty, which also includes 24-hour Roadside Assistance – that’s good to know when your young driver is behind the wheel.
