Why Honda Civics and Accords Win Awards and Keep Consumers’ Loyalty
Coloradans love their SUVs, crossovers and pickup trucks, but Honda continues to stake a claim on the 21% of U.S. vehicle sales that are cars. The Honda Civic and Accord make up a sizeable share of Honda’s lineup. And for good reason: both are award-winners that have great features that appeal to consumers.
The 2022 Honda Civic was named the North American Car of the Year, voted #1 by a group of knowledgeable U.S. and Canadian automotive journalists. Forbe’s Jack Nerad said, “If carmakers were limited to building just one car model the Honda Civic should be that model. It combines just about every positive attribute you can think of – low-cost, high fuel efficiency, utility, comfort, dependability, and fun to drive among them.” These qualities make the Honda Civic the top choice for Millennials, Gen Zers, and multicultural consumers.
“The thing about Honda is that sedans have always been a part of our heritage. Civic is almost a brand in itself,” Dan Calhoun, senior product planner for Honda told Newsweek. A sporty hatchback Civic Type R just recently made its debut. It’s powerful, stylish, fun-to-drive yet still economical.
While the Civic has a solid constituency among younger consumers, the 2022 Honda Accord is racking up some awards of its own. For instance:
- U.S New & World Report’s 2022 Best Midsize Car for the Money. “The 2022 Honda Accord is a terrific car, and it’s a great buy if you’re shopping for an affordable family sedan. It has a spacious and premium interior with comfy seats, a user-friendly infotainment system, and lots of standard tech and safety features.”
- 2022 Kelley Blue Book’s KBB.com Best Buy Award. “The inherent strengths of the Accord come from its strong mechanicals, timeless styling, roomy cabin, and comfortable ride. Layer on top Honda’s reputation for resale value and low cost of ownership, and you have a combination that continues to be nearly impossible to beat.”
- U.S. New & World Report’s 2022 Best Midsize Car for Families. “The 2022 Honda Accord ranks at the top of the midsize car class, thanks in part to its peerless driving dynamics, good fuel economy, spacious cabin and trunk, and intuitive features.”
- Car and Driver’s “2022 10Best Cars” – making its 36th appearance on this list. “Year after year we find ourselves recommending the Honda Accord to friends and family looking for a fun-to-drive, safe and fuel-efficient sedan,” said Eddie Alterman, Chief Brand Officer of Car and Driver.
Go ahead! Buck the trend to SUVs, crossovers and pickups if that’s how you roll. Honda – and Schomp Honda on Havana in Aurora – have you covered.
