Honda CR-V: "The Pioneer Leads Again"

Colorado has a history with pioneers.

Whether you taking the family to the Indian ruins at Mesa Verde, or the Denver University
Pioneers hockey games, Honda's pioneering CR-V gets you there in style, class, comfort and
safety.

Originally introduced in 1995, the new Honda CR-V keeps up with its trailblazing pioneer
past. The CR-V was an initial entry into the small crossover segment. Since its introduction,
rumors have persisted as to what CR-V actually stands for.

According to Honda enthusiasts, CR-V stands for Comfortable Runaround Vehicle. No one
really knows, but the best premise is CR-V stands for Civic Recreational Vehicle, since the Honda CR-V is actually built on a Honda Civic platform.

Regardless of what the initials may stand for, the critics are clear as to what CR-V means to
them. Edmunds.com, a leading car enthusiast website called the Honda CR-V a Top
Recommended Vehicle. Edmunds.com also said, the Honda CR-V had "innovative
storage solutions, simple controls, responsive handling, copious interior space and excellent
visibility."

The Honda CR-V was also named by Edmunds.com as Best Retained Value SUV under
$25K. Kelly Blue Book also followed suit, naming the 2011 CR-V in its Best Resale Value
Award in both the Compact Utility Vehicle and Top 10 categories.

The Honda CR-V comes in three models: SE, EX and EX-L. All models come standard
with 17 inch alloy wheels and a lightweight single piece tailgate that makes loading cargo
simple. The 2011 CR-V also boasts a low step in height, allowing for easy passenger loading
and unloading and easy step in, for when you are hauling your big Colorado mountain dogs.

For those yearning to head west, the Honda CR-V comes with an I-VTEC 180 HP engine.
For mountain driving, a 5 speed automatic transmission is available with Grade Logic Control
System.

The system allows the car to adjust shift points to maximize fuel economy depending on
whether you are headed up or down the mountain. This feature becomes ever more important
since everyone in Colorado knows, it's not how fast you come down the mountain, it's whether
or not you can stop.

Real time 4-wheel drive is also available to help during bad weather, or what in Colorado is just
called Tuesday. As you would expect from most pioneers, safety is important. In the case of the Honda CR-V, it is built in. Each CR-V comes standard with anti-lock breaking systems and a tire pressure monitoring system.

Other defenses against accidents include Advanced Compatibility Engineering, which is a body
design utilized in the Honda CR-V, that protects the occupants in the case of frontal crash. The  Honda CR-V also includes side curtain airbags with rollover sensors and dual stage multiple threshold front airbags.

An especially important safety feature for parents, the 2011 Honda CR-V comes with a
conversation mirror built into the overhead console that allows front seat occupants to keep an
eye on the backseat without turning around.

Edmunds.com called the 2011 CR-V, "one of our favorite models in the class."

Perhaps the highest praise for the Honda CR-V came from automotive research website
Vehix.com. About the CR-V, Vehix.com said, "the 2011 Honda CR-V is the small crossover
that we would recommend to friends and family because it makes life easier."
